A message from the Director of Operations

As Director of Operations, my focus is on delivering a quality service for our customers across North and West Norfolk. This is a community we’re proud to serve — it’s where our roots are, and it drives everything we do. I want more for our customers and their homes: a service they can rely on, delivered by people who care and take pride in their work.

We’ve made real progress, but there’s still more to do — and I’m determined to build the right team to take us there. If you share that sense of purpose, that drive to make a difference and to lead by example, then I’d love to hear from you. Together, we can create something genuinely special here in Norfolk.

Over the past 18 months, our Repairs and Maintenance Service has been on a real journey of improvement. We’ve modernised the way we work, introduced new technology, and fully mobilised our teams so they can spend more time where they’re needed most — with our customers. We’ve brought in automated scheduling, strengthened how we plan and deliver work, and made big investments in our people, including creating over 20 new roles in our DLO this year alone.

There’s a real buzz across the service right now. We’ve worked hard to build a culture that’s open, supportive and focused on getting things right for our customers. Our operatives are a committed, proud team — we hear great things about the service they deliver — but we’re the first to admit that there’s still plenty more to do. We’re ambitious about what great looks like, and we’re not settling for anything less than a flagship service that’s recognised locally for its quality, reliability and responsiveness.

What makes this even more exciting is that the drive to make that happen runs right through the organisation — from our Board and my fellow Executives to the teams out on site every day. There’s real belief and energy behind what we’re doing, and a shared commitment to keep improving. We’ve already proven we can deliver rapid change; now we’re looking for someone with the great experience, vision and leadership to help us move from good to great.

You’ll be joining us at a pivotal moment too. We’re wrapping up our current corporate strategy and shaping the next one together with our Board, colleagues and customers. At its heart will be a clear focus on providing quality, reliable and responsive services — and our Repairs and Maintenance Service is right at the centre of that ambition.

About the Role

  • As our Assistant Director of Repairs & Maintenance, you play a pivotal role in ensuring customer satisfaction, through a quality, timely and effective repairs service.
  • You will have experience of successfully leading a service from good to excellent, by negotiating change, culture and technology to drive continuous improvement.
  • You will be driven to deliver demonstrable value for money, developing our DLO to reach top quartile performance and shape its business design with commercial acumen but also an unwavering focus on our customers; you will be a leader who has the experience, drive and passion for helping us to realize our vision of placing our customers at the very center of what we do.
  • You will recognise the importance of building upon the capacity, skills and experience of our team at a time when there are increased regulatory, legislative and financial demands.
  • You will be responsible for shaping services to meet the specific outcomes and impact laid out in the Regulator of Social Housing’s standards including the Safety and Quality Standard.
  • You will also have experience of procuring contractors that support our in-house DLO. You will be comfortable in being strategic as well as having command of the details - holding your team and contractors to account as we ensure we continue our journey of improvement.
