Audit & Risk Committee Member
- £5000 per annum
- West Midlands
- Permanent
Role: Audit & Risk Committee member x 2
Company: Citizen Housing
Salary: £5,000 p.a.
Citizen is seeking Independent Members for its Audit and Risk Committee, but here’s where things differ: this is not just a seat for accountants—scrutiny at Citizen spans every corner of the business, from customer safety and asset management to understanding how real lives are shaped by housing.
If you’re the kind of person who understands risk management, is passionate about safe and sustainable homes, and interested in seeing genuine impact on diverse communities across the West Midlands, we want to hear from you.
Why This Role Matters
At Citizen, “audit and risk” means making sure their social purpose is delivered in real, tangible ways—not just checking spreadsheets. You’ll go beyond the numbers, using your insight to help keep colleagues and customers safe, interrogate decisions affecting tens of thousands of homes, and challenge how things are done for the better. You could be a health and safety champion, a resident with lived experience, or someone whose career brings a fresh perspective on housing or asset management. If you know what matters at community level, this is your opportunity to help shape the future with Citizen.
Who Should Apply?
- Those with experience in landlord organisations or property management.
- Individuals who understand health and safety, especially when it comes to protecting people.
- People who can connect with a broad mix of communities in the West Midlands.
- You don’t need previous board or committee experience—your perspective, skills and passion are what count.
What’s in it for you?
- £5,000 per year, monthly payments.
- Three-year term (maximum six).
- Five committee meetings and an away day each year.
- Opportunities to learn, develop, and influence one of the UK’s biggest housing providers.
Diversity and Inclusion
Citizen’s doors are firmly open. Applications are especially welcome from people who too often wonder if these ads are “for someone like me.” Citizen want a committee that reflects the full diversity of their customers and communities—whatever your gender, background, age, or ability.
