Community… Diversity… Accountability…

These 3 words are central to a role on the Board at Arches Housing.  Do they resonate with you?

Community

Arches Housing was established 50 years ago to make old houses into quality homes and to stop the rich and diverse communities of North Sheffield being displaced and broken up.   Although the organisation has grown and now serves communities across Sheffield, Rotherham and Derbyshire, it is still rooted in the heart of the community the founders cared about so deeply.

Diversity

Arches Housing serves diverse communities and it’s people-centric approach ensures responsive quality services are at the heart of its operations. They are Investors in People Gold, and according to their latest staff survey, their staff confirmed Arches was a great place to work! The Board is reflects this approach and ensures that all voices are heard at this strategic level.

Accountability

Everyone has the right to a safe and warm home and it is the responsibility of Arches Housing and the Board to ensure that this right is realised.  The Board works together with the Executive and residents to ensure that the organisation remains focussed on its core objectives and meets its regulatory and legislative requirements.  This is achieved through effective collaboration, scrutiny and challenge producing positive outcomes for residents.

If you believe in the above, and want to bring your expertise to this cohesive, values-driven Board and improve the lives of residents in the region, we’d love to hear from you.

Who should apply?

You don’t have to have worked in the Social Housing sector- in fact, it’s important to bring fresh ideas to the table, so applicants from outside of the sector will be equally welcomed.  You do, however need to have a strong social conscience and a desire to improve the lives of others.  A connection to the area is a strong plus, but if not, you’d need to show a desire to understand the nuances of the communities Arches Housing serves. a

Previous Board experience is preferable as Arches Housing develop new Board members through a trainee programme, however a sound knowledge of good governance and exposure to Board as an Executive will also be considered.

So you know the why and the who.

Now HOW do you apply?
