Could you lead a trusted Birmingham charity into its next chapter—strengthening its future while improving the lives of older people across the city?

BCOP is looking for an accomplished, compassionate and commercially minded Chief Executive to lead the organisation at an important point in its development.

This is an opportunity to shape the future of a respected charity with a proud history, committed colleagues and a clear purpose: helping older people live with dignity, independence and choice through safe homes and care that comes from the heart.

The role

Reporting to the Board of Trustees, you will build on stronger financial and operational foundations, leading the delivery of BCOP’s strategy while helping to shape the next phase of its development. This includes improving and modernising housing provision, increasing occupancy, developing partnerships and exploring carefully considered growth opportunities.

This is a genuinely broad CEO role in a relatively small, close-knit organisation. You will not be expected to be a technical specialist in every area, but you will be comfortable working across care, housing, people, finance and governance—asking the right questions, making sound decisions and stepping in when needed.

About you

You will be an experienced senior leader—potentially already operating at CEO, Deputy CEO, or Senior Director level—with the judgement, confidence and empathy to lead a multi-service organisation.

You will bring:

  • At least five years’ senior management experience
  • A strong track record of leading organisational change
  • Experience of strategic and operational planning, performance management and financial stewardship
  • Experience within a regulated environment, ideally care, housing, health, social care, charity or not-for-profit
  • The ability to build trusted relationships with Boards, colleagues, residents, families and external partners
  • A collaborative, coaching-led approach to developing people and teams
  • The resilience to make difficult decisions while keeping people and purpose at the centre

You will understand that leading a smaller organisation requires both strategic perspective and practical leadership. You will enjoy moving easily between a Board discussion, a conversation with a care or housing colleague, and time spent listening to the older people and families BCOP supports.

Experience of CQC-regulated services, social housing, charity governance or external inspection and audit would be advantageous, but BCOP is particularly interested in leaders with transferable capability, strong values and a genuine commitment to older people.

Why BCOP?

BCOP supports older people through three CQC-rated Good nursing homes, alongside supported and independent living schemes across Birmingham. With around 250 colleagues, the organisation is known for its warm, person-centred culture and the belief that little things matter.

You will have the platform to lead with ambition and humanity—protecting the quality and warmth BCOP is known for while ensuring it has the resilience and reach to support more older people in the years ahead.
