Are you a senior housing professional who wants to make a genuine difference through safe, high-quality homes and strong, values-led leadership?

An established, purpose-driven supported housing organisation in Oxfordshire is seeking an experienced Director of Housing & Estates to join its Senior Leadership Team. This is a pivotal role, combining strategic influence with operational oversight, in an organisation supporting people with mental health needs.

The Opportunity

This is a high-impact leadership role with responsibility for the organisation’s housing management, estates, property, and health & safety functions, overseeing a diverse portfolio of around 500 supported housing units.

Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, you’ll provide expert leadership, shape strategy, and ensure homes are safe, compliant, well-maintained and truly fit for purpose. You’ll also play a key role in organisational decision-making, governance, risk management and partnership working.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver the organisation’s Housing, Estates and Health & Safety strategies
  • Provide senior leadership to a multi-disciplinary department (c.36 staff)
  • Oversee housing management functions including allocations, voids, tenancy sustainment and income
  • Ensure compliance with Decent Homes Standards, health & safety legislation, and regulatory requirements
  • Act as strategic lead for property investment, maintenance programmes and capital works
  • Lead negotiations with commissioners and manage key housing contracts
  • Champion a Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE) approach across housing and estates
  • Build strong relationships with local authorities, regulators and external partners
  • Manage budgets effectively, ensuring value for money and financial sustainability

About You

You’ll be a confident, credible senior leader with significant experience in supported housing, housing associations or a similar environment, and a strong grasp of property, estates and health & safety responsibilities.

You’re likely to bring:

  • Leadership experience at a senior or director level within housing or supported housing
  • Strong knowledge of housing management, property compliance and health & safety
  • Experience working with vulnerable residents, including those with mental health needs
  • A collaborative, values-driven leadership style
  • The ability to influence at Board and executive level
  • A proactive, improvement-focused mindset

A housing qualification (Level 4 or equivalent) is essential, with leadership or governance experience highly desirable.

Why Apply?

  • Join a mission-led organisation where your work has real social impact
  • Play a key role in shaping the future of supported housing services
  • Senior leadership influence with scope to drive change and improvement
