Role: Finance Director

Salary: £100,000 -£120,000 p.a. (plus BUPA healthcare)

This is a rare opportunity for a values‑driven Finance Director to help steer a post‑merger housing organisation through the final stages of regulatory recovery and into its next chapter.

The role

You’ll join a specialist supported housing provider that has come through a period of intensive regulatory engagement and is hoping to be compliant by the end of the year. The organisation has taken significant steps to strengthen its position – including stock rationalisation, a sharper focus on governance and assurance, and a more disciplined financial framework – but there is more to do, and this role is central to that objective. You will be the strategic finance lead, reporting directly to the CEO and will sit at the heart of Board and Executive decision‑making.

This isn’t a “head‑down in the numbers” role. It’s about leading a finance and income function, rebuilding confidence and cohesion after merger, and creating the environment where good people and good processes can thrive.

Why this will appeal to you

  • You’re motivated by a genuine “turnaround‑to‑transformation” story and want to bring an organisation to a fully compliant position, building on work already underway.
  • You enjoy leading through change – bringing together legacy teams, new staff members, clarifying roles and ways of working, and coaching people to perform at their best.
  • You want to combine impact and influence: working closely with the Regulator, reassuring the Board and funders, and ultimately supporting the provision of safe, high‑quality homes for people who need them most.
  • You like being close to the Board: drafting and presenting papers, influencing strategy, and having a clear voice in decisions about investment, stock, growth and risk.
  • You value balance: this is a role where your strategic thinking, regulatory savvy and people leadership will be used in equal measure.

Who we’re looking for

You’ll be a qualified finance leader with experience in social housing, charities or another regulated, mission‑driven environment, ideally with exposure to regulatory engagement or improvement programmes. You’ll be as comfortable in the Boardroom as you are in the detail, with a calm, collegiate style that reassures colleagues and stakeholders in times of change. You’ll bring a thoughtful approach to regulation and risk, and you’ll genuinely enjoy the work of building teams – not just structures and reports.

The role is based in the Manchester region, with an expectation of at least three days a week in the office to be alongside the team and the rest of the leadership group.
