The Role:

We are seeking a Fire Safety Manager to provide senior leadership and technical expertise across fire safety and building safety functions within a complex housing portfolio. This is a strategic position with responsibility for shaping long‑term fire safety strategy, strengthening governance, and ensuring full alignment with evolving legislation and regulatory expectations.

You will play a key role in developing Building Safety Case Reports, embedding the “Golden Thread” of information, and acting as a principal point of contact with regulators. Working alongside senior stakeholders, you will drive organisational change, redesign operating models, and enhance risk‑based decision making across fire and building safety.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead a strategic review of fire safety processes, producing a clear forward plan and delivery roadmap.
  • Conduct full gap analysis across fire safety functions, identifying risks and developing best‑practice operating models.
  • Define long‑term fire safety strategy, including fire engineering support, FRA programmes and technical requirements.
  • Redesign and enhance Fire Risk Assessment (FRA) processes and follow‑on actions to improve performance and oversight.
  • Strengthen data reporting, analytics and visibility to support risk‑based decision making.
  • Lead procurement of fire safety contractors, consultants and specialist systems.
  • Provide high‑level technical advice on fire risks and regulatory compliance across the portfolio.
  • Act as a key liaison with regulators and external stakeholders on fire safety matters.
  • Line manage fire safety staff and support organisational capability building.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Proven strategic leadership experience within fire safety or building safety environments.
  • Strong experience developing governance frameworks, operating models, and safety case systems.
  • Extensive experience conducting audits, gap analysis, and assurance reviews.
  • In‑depth technical knowledge of fire safety legislation, FRA methodologies, and building regulations.
  • Ability to translate complex technical information into strategic planning and actionable outcomes.
  • Experience working within housing, local authority, or large‑scale property portfolios.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills with experience engaging regulators and senior leaders.

 

Qualifications Required:

  • Professional membership such as MIFireE, FIFireE, or MIFSM (or equivalent).
  • Recognised fire risk assessment accreditation (e.g. FRACS, BAFE SP205 or equivalent).
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation including the Building Safety Act, Fire Safety Order, PAS standards and British Standards.
