About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Development to lead our development, growth and investment activity. Reporting to the Executive Team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the organisation’s development strategy, ensuring the successful delivery of new homes and regeneration projects while meeting financial, social and quality objectives.
This is a senior leadership position requiring a strong commercial mindset, excellent stakeholder management skills and a passion for delivering high quality development outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and deliver the organisation’s development strategy in line with corporate objectives.
Identify, appraise and progress new development and regeneration opportunities from inception through to completion.
Oversee feasibility, financial appraisal, risk management and business case approvals.
Manage development budgets, ensuring value for money and strong financial performance.
Lead and develop a high performing development team, promoting a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.
Build and maintain effective relationships with partners, consultants, contractors, funders and public sector stakeholders.
Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulation, governance and health & safety requirements.
Contribute to wider corporate strategy and decision making as a member of the senior leadership team.
Person Specification
Essential:
Proven senior level experience in property development, regeneration or a related field.
Strong track record of delivering complex development projects from concept to completion.
Excellent commercial and financial appraisal skills.
Demonstrable leadership and people management experience.
Strong negotiation, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills.
Sound knowledge of development related legislation, planning and procurement.
Desirable:
Relevant professional qualification (e.g. RICS, RTPI, CIOB or similar).
Experience working within a regulated or not for profit environment.
Experience of partnership working and funding arrangements.
