About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Development to lead our development, growth and investment activity. Reporting to the Executive Team, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the organisation’s development strategy, ensuring the successful delivery of new homes and regeneration projects while meeting financial, social and quality objectives.

This is a senior leadership position requiring a strong commercial mindset, excellent stakeholder management skills and a passion for delivering high quality development outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and deliver the organisation’s development strategy in line with corporate objectives.

  • Identify, appraise and progress new development and regeneration opportunities from inception through to completion.

  • Oversee feasibility, financial appraisal, risk management and business case approvals.

  • Manage development budgets, ensuring value for money and strong financial performance.

  • Lead and develop a high performing development team, promoting a culture of collaboration, accountability and continuous improvement.

  • Build and maintain effective relationships with partners, consultants, contractors, funders and public sector stakeholders.

  • Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulation, governance and health & safety requirements.

  • Contribute to wider corporate strategy and decision making as a member of the senior leadership team.

Person Specification

Essential:

  • Proven senior level experience in property development, regeneration or a related field.

  • Strong track record of delivering complex development projects from concept to completion.

  • Excellent commercial and financial appraisal skills.

  • Demonstrable leadership and people management experience.

  • Strong negotiation, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills.

  • Sound knowledge of development related legislation, planning and procurement.

Desirable:

  • Relevant professional qualification (e.g. RICS, RTPI, CIOB or similar).

  • Experience working within a regulated or not for profit environment.

  • Experience of partnership working and funding arrangements.
