We are working with Metropolitan Thames Valley Housing (MTVH), who are seeking a Property Surveyor to join their Property Services team. This role offers the chance to play a key part in diagnosing and managing building-related issues, including damp and mould, disrepair, and complex works, ensuring homes are maintained to the highest standards for MTVH residents.
The Role:
As a Property Surveyor, you’ll be responsible for managing building pathology cases from inspection through to completion, providing technical expertise and professional advice throughout. You’ll engage with customers, delivery partners, colleagues, and on occasion legal representatives, to ensure works are carried out effectively and in line with regulatory requirements.
You will report directly to the Senior Regional Repairs Manager or Regional Property Manager and cover a regional patch (based from London or Beeston), with site visits and travel required.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead on the diagnosis and management of building defects, disrepair, damp and mould, and wider maintenance works.
Carry out full case ownership from inspection through to resolution, ensuring accurate reporting and documentation.
Provide professional commentary and support on property-related matters across the wider Property Team.
Manage leaseholder and third-party enquiries, including home improvement requests and party wall matters.
Conduct pre-, post-, and during-work inspections, making recommendations for planned or ad hoc works.
Liaise with colleagues across Property, Development, and Housing Management to deliver joined-up solutions.
Ensure compliance with legal, health and safety, and housing association obligations, including Awaab’s Law.
Support continuous improvement by feeding back on defective components and contributing to technical learning within the team.
What We’re Looking For:
A surveying qualification (or demonstrable pathway towards competency) with experience in building pathology.
Proven experience in damp and mould inspections and/or disrepair cases.
Knowledge of the property-related regulatory environment within housing associations.
Strong report writing and communication skills, with the ability to present findings clearly (e.g. Scott schedules).
Ability to manage larger pieces of work with health and safety and risk management in mind.
Experience of lone working and providing regional coverage across sites.
A collaborative, professional, and customer-focused approach with a commitment to quality.
Qualifications Required:
Surveying qualification or demonstrable experience in property surveying (preferably in social housing).
Knowledge of Disrepair Protocol and housing legal responsibilities.
Full UK driving licence and use of own vehicle with business insurance.
Willingness to travel regionally and attend other MTVH offices as required.
Basic DBS check (to be renewed every three years).
