Are you a skilled people manager who still wants to keep your surveying expertise sharp?
We’re looking for a Senior Repairs Surveyor to join a dynamic Property Directorate and lead a small team of surveyors while covering a North London patch of approximately 500 properties. If you thrive in a fast-paced environment and have a passion for diagnosing and resolving complex property issues, this could be the role for you.
The Role:
• Manage a team of 5 surveyors
• Cover the North Patch
• Hybrid working: 3 days on-site/office
• Report to the Interim Senior Regional Repairs Manager
• Provide technical support and guidance to the Responsive Repairs Team
• Deliver high-quality reactive repairs within agreed timescales
• Lead on complex building issues, disrepair cases, and planned replacements
Key Responsibilities:
• Ensure accurate diagnosis of building faults including damp, mould, and structural issues
• Monitor team workload, outputs, and productivity
• Provide monthly reports to the Regional Property Manager
• Support team development and continuous learning
• Liaise with contractors to improve service delivery and value for money
• Ensure compliance with CDM regulations and health & safety legislation
• Review home improvement requests and safeguard housing stock
• Lead on HHSRS assessments and categorisation of hazards
• Contribute to service improvement and cross-team initiatives
What We’re Looking For:
• A proactive, resident-focused surveyor with strong leadership skills
• Proven experience managing teams and resolving complex repairs
• Deep understanding of housing construction, building pathology, and NHF Schedule of Rates
• Strong communication skills and ability to simplify technical issues for residents
• Experience working collaboratively across technical and non-technical teams
• Ability to work under pressure and adapt to changing circumstances
Qualifications Required:
• RICS qualified or working towards qualification (or equivalent)
• Experience with SOR, basket rates, SCHOTT schedules
• Knowledge of HHSRS, CDM regulations, and health & safety legislation
• A valid driving licence is preferred
