The Role:

We are seeking a Technical Officer to support the delivery of day‑to‑day repairs and minor projects across occupied homes. This role blends technical expertise with strong customer focus, ensuring safe, well‑maintained homes and high‑quality service delivery. You will work closely with tenants, managers and contractors, providing technical advice, overseeing works and supporting an effective responsive repairs service.

 

Key Responsibilities:


Repairs & Project Delivery

  • Support performance targets and monitor progress of allocated projects.
  • Manage day‑to‑day and minor project works, reducing risks and ensuring safe delivery.
  • Deliver cost‑effective repairs within budget and maintain asset value.
  • Assist with design and delivery of improved services using new technologies.
  • Promote excellent customer engagement throughout the repairs process.

 

Technical Support & Quality Control

  • Provide technical advice to colleagues and stakeholders.
  • Manage allocated projects through mobile or manual assignment.
  • Oversee contractor quality and ensure compliance with standards and documentation.
  • Reconcile and settle final accounts, approve valuations and resolve disputes.
  • Carry out site visits, diagnose defects, investigate complaints and agree follow‑on works.

 

Service Continuity & Emergency Support

  • Contribute to technical office cover and out‑of‑hours handover.
  • Participate in an evening/weekend rota for emergency technical support.
  • Attend emergency events (fires, floods) as required to support contractors and customers.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience in delivering small and large building projects in occupied homes.
  • Strong budgeting skills and understanding of value for money.
  • Skilled in negotiation, problem‑solving and dispute resolution.
  • Strong technical knowledge of construction and H&S standards.
  • IT‑literate: Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective time management and ability to prioritise.
  • Positive approach to service improvement and teamwork.

 

Qualifications Required:

  • Relevant technical qualification (BTech/HNC/CIOB/RICS/ONC) or equivalent experience.
  • Full valid driving licence.
