Greenacre Recruitment are delighted to be working exclusively with a newly established, values‑driven organisation, our client is seeking an exceptional Managing Director to lead its end‑to‑end repairs & maintenance, property and compliance services. This is a rare opportunity to shape a growing business from the ground up setting strategy, driving operational excellence, and building a culture that delivers outstanding service for customers across the UK.
You’ll provide strategic leadership, oversee all operational functions, and ensure the organisation delivers high‑quality, value‑for‑money services. Working closely with the Board and senior stakeholders, you’ll guide the business through growth, transformation and continuous improvement, ensuring it remains customer‑focused, well‑governed and financially robust.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the strategic development of the organisation, setting clear goals, priorities and long‑term plans.
- Drive business planning, operational strategies and initiatives to support growth, performance and competitiveness.
- Provide leadership to senior managers and multi‑disciplinary teams, ensuring accountability and high performance.
- Oversee day‑to‑day operations including repairs, compliance and planned delivery works.
- Monitor organisational performance, KPIs and financial metrics, taking action to address risks and opportunities.
- Ensure effective systems, processes and controls are in place to support strong governance and operational assurance.
- Manage budgets, financial planning and resource allocation to maximise value for money.
- Lead change management, service improvement and innovation across the organisation.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders, partners, customers and Board members.
- Ensure compliance with all statutory, regulatory and legal requirements.
- Champion a positive, inclusive, customer‑focused culture aligned with organisational values.
Key Attributes & Experience
- Proven leadership experience within repairs, maintenance or property management services, ideally within social housing.
- Strong strategic thinking, commercial acumen and the ability to analyse trends and identify opportunities.
- Demonstrable experience developing and implementing organisational strategies, systems and processes.
- Exceptional leadership qualities - decisive, resilient, inspiring and able to motivate teams to deliver excellence.
- Experience navigating complex environments and leading successful change programmes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to influence and build relationships at all levels.
- Strong financial management capability, including budgeting, forecasting and resource planning.
- Experience designing and monitoring effective systems, controls and performance frameworks.
- Ability to coach, mentor and develop managers and staff, fostering a “can‑do” culture.
- Skilled in risk assessment, decision‑making and ensuring compliance with governance and audit requirements.
- High levels of integrity, professionalism and commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion.
